You probably don't put much thought into it, but your outgoing voicemail message is a selling tool all by itself. Let me give you an example …
"Thank you for the consideration of your call."
That was at the end of one client’s message and not only did it give me the idea to write this blog, it struck me as a great thing to say.
Another factor is how you say it. That is, what is the tone of your message? Most people fall somewhere between the descriptors of Eeyore and pleasant, adding only the bare minimum of enthusiasm and pop. The next time you are in a really, really good “Red-Sox-just-won-the-World-Series” type of mood, change your outgoing voicemail message, listen to it and hear the difference.
It's a small thing. Inconsequential, really. And it absolutely won't matter … until it does. Maybe one more person will stick with you or buy from you based on your outgoing voicemail message.
But that's one more than you have right now, isn't it?
