Velocity Print Solutions Renews Its Commitment to 100 Percent Wind Energy
ALBANY, NY—January 6, 2015—Velocity Print Solutions has partnered with Renewable Choice Energy to support the growth of renewable energy projects in the United States and reduce the environmental impact of the electricity we use. By purchasing renewable energy credits (RECs) from Renewable Choice, Velocity is taking responsibility for the emissions generated from its electricity use and helping change the way energy is produced in the United States.
The purchase of over 800,000 kWh of American Wind REC’s helps to avoid up to 906,277 lbs. (411 metric tons) of carbon dioxide emissions from being emitted into the atmosphere. This commitment has a similar impact as:
- Planting 10.541 tree seedlings grown for 10 years or
- The Removal of 87 passenger vehicles from the road for a year
"We are excited to renew our commitment to wind energy and reduce our environmental impact," stated Jim Stiles, CEO. "We believe our commitment to 100 percent wind power through Renewable Choice Energy has helped us raise the standard in our industry and focus on what it means to be sustainable. We believe we should create lasting impressions on the mind...not the planet." Velocity also maintains an in-house recycling paper and corrugated program and is a FSC Certified Chain of Custody Printer. Velocity has purchased RECs since 2008 and is currently working with Renewable Choice Energy.
