7 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the National Postal Forum

Are you going to the National Postal Forum (NPF) next week?

If so, you're in for a packed few days of industry insights, networking, and maybe even a little honky-tonk. If not—well, there’s still time to register! It kicks off this Sunday and runs through Wednesday in Nashville.

This NPF is shaping up to be the largest in years—with over 180 exhibitors (including 70 first-timers) and more than 4,000 attendees, a third of them new to the event. That’s a lot of new faces, new ideas, and fresh conversations waiting to happen.

This will be my sixth show, and each year I walk away with something new—whether it's new perspectives, some great connections, or a cool experience from the host city.

Whether you're a first-timer or an industry veteran, here are 7 things to do at (and around) NPF 2025:

1. Grab the App and the Program Guide

There’s a lot to see and do both on and off the Exhibit Hall floor. Both of these resources help you plan and get the most out of your time, as well as learn more about exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, and other attendees.

2. Soak Up the Learning Opportunities

NPF offers an incredible range of educational sessions, certifications, and peer-to-peer roundtables. One of my top recommendations: sit in on the SME roundtables with USPS and industry experts. Topics include everything from Seamless Acceptance to mailing promotions. Even if you’ve been in print or mail for years, you’ll find something new to take back with you. And the workshops? Multiple tracks cover a wide range of topics every day. (Shameless plug: I’m on a panel on Wednesday at 2, “Succeeding as a Mailer: How to Improve Efficiency While Cutting Costs”. Can’t wait!)

3. Get Inspired at the General Session

On Tuesday, April 29, don’t miss the General Session featuring change management author and speaker Peter Sheahan. His keynote, “Leading Forward: The Courage to Transform,” ties perfectly into this year’s theme. Expect bold ideas on navigating change and staying ahead of the curve in these uncertain times.

4. Hear Directly from USPS Leaders

This year’s lineup includes USPS Chief Performance Officer Joshua Colin and others who’ll dive into how the Postal Service is addressing today’s challenges—revamping networks, improving retail and delivery services, and more. It’s a unique chance to hear the “why” behind the changes and what’s next.

5. Visit the Exhibit Floor – and Talk Shop!

I love to explore the exhibit hall. It’s a great way to learn about the companies in our industry’s value chain through the conversations at tables and in the aisles. Or invite yourself to a lunch table to talk with others. And remember to connect with the great people representing the industry and membership associations and find out about how you can help them advocate for our common interests. By working together, we can overcome our challenges and keep growing while serving our customers better.

6. Don’t Skip the Evening Events

Receptions every night and Wednesday’s finale are more than just fun—they’re prime networking time in a laid-back setting. Catch up with old friends, make new ones, and enjoy the social side of the NPF.

7. Explore Nashville’s Rich Culture

Even if country music isn’t your jam—my taste leans more toward Americana these days—Nashville’s legendary history and current scene downtown is worth checking out. On Tuesday night, the Grand Ole Opry (a quick walk from the convention) has a show, and tours are available every day. And Ryman Auditorium, the original Opry home, hosts a variety of shows and artists.
