IT ISN’T necessary to sell printers on the beauty and endurance of ink. Some prefer to take it home with them, and not just on their clothes. The morning show of a Philadelphia-based radio station, WMMR, has a weekly feature it calls Tattoosday, in which listeners come in to the studio on a Tuesday morning to have a small tattoo applied by a local artist.

Heidelberg Opens VLF Assembly Hall WIESLOCH-WALLDORF, GERMANY—Bernhard Schreier, CEO of press manufacturer Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, officially opened assembly Hall 11 here on September 15. The hall measures 375,000 square feet (equivalent to almost five soccer fields) and will be used to assemble a new generation of large-format presses, the Speedmaster XL 145 and Speedmaster XL 162. Heidelberg invested around 45 million Euro in the building, making it the largest input of funds into the Wiesloch-Walldorf site in the last 10 years. Award Winners Honored in China SHANGHAI, CHINA—Jonathan Leslie, CEO of Sappi Limited, and Ronee Hagen, CEO of Sappi Fine Paper North America, presented Bob Coppinger of Kirkwood Printing, Wilmington, MA, with an International Printer of the Year award. Sappi Limited presented awards to nine printers out of 6,000 entries at a gala event held here recently to recognize excellence in print craftsmanship. The only winner from the U.S., Kirkwood Printing took top honors in the annual reports category. PINEVILLE, NC—Belk Printing Technologies has installed its third Mitsubishi press. The Diamond 3000S began production at Belk in mid-February. This is the company's second six-color press. Nies/Artcraft Cos., St. Louis, announced that Keith Marcks has been named president of Lion Promotional Solutions, a subsidiary of Nies/Artcraft specializing in promotional coupons, games and sweepstakes, and point-of-purchase displays. In other news, Tom Miller has been promoted to the position of vice president, marketing/account services. He has held the position of director of marketing at Nies/Artcraft for the past four years.
