Fry Communications (www.frycomm.com) announces the purchase of a superior quality sheetfed press from Komori. The press is equipped with multiple in-line finishing units including cold foil, multiple UV coaters, emboss/deboss units and a die cut unit. Installation has begun in Fry’s Mechanicsburg, PA, facility.
CHAMBERSBURG, PA—Monarch Litho reclaimed its spot as the top-earning Government Printing Office (GPO) vendor in 2007 with about $30.5 million in government contracted sales, according to the annual Top 50 GPO Vendors list compiled by e-LYNXX. Montebello, CA-based Monarch had posted top sales for three consecutive years before getting nudged out by NPC of Claysburg, PA, in 2006. NPC fell to third in 2007 at $20.8 million, having been edged out by Chicago-based RR Donnelley for second with $21.4 million in GPO work. Rounding out the top five were Gateway Press, Louisville, KY ($18.6 million), and SourceLink of Elk Grove Village,
PIA/GATF announced the recipient of its 2006 William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award. Stuart McMichael, former president of Arlington, VA-based Custom Print, was selected for his significant contributions toward environmental awareness, education and best practices in printing. He helped transform Custom Print into a totally “green” operation. Tony Mangabat has joined the Graphic Arts Association (GAA), Trevose, PA, as its new environmental, health and safety (EHS) manager. Mangabat will assist GAA members with EHS and compliance issues, including navigating through the regulations, interpretations and guidance documents.
