Shutterfly Adds Custom Design Option for Photo Books
REDWOOD CITY, CA—May 09, 2011—Shutterfly Inc., a leading Internet-based social expression and personal publishing service, has unveiled the biggest innovation to its award winning photo books since 2001: the “All New Custom Path” photo book creation experience. This new functionality allows consumers creative control so they can do more with their photos, while providing them with guidance to tell their stories in a photo book just the way they want.
“For 10 years, we’ve continuously introduced innovations to photo books, listening to customers tell us about the type of photo book creation experience they want and delivering the products that have kept us at the forefront of the industry,” says Jeffrey Housenbold, president and CEO of Shutterfly. “With the All New Custom Path, we’re giving customers the creative control they’ve been asking for, along with the quality, ease of use and variety of design they’ve come to expect. Coupled with our Simple Path, we now offer the best photo book experience for every type of consumer, from those who prefer that we show them a pre-made photo book with their photos laid out chronologically, to consumers who want to make every page their own.”
The All New Custom Path features 41 design styles at launch, with more designs to be released later in 2011. The new experience also allows users to pull in photos from multiple sources including their computers, Shutterfly accounts, Shutterfly share sites and Facebook.
Two of the most significant improvements with Shutterfly’s All New Custom Path are that consumers can now use a photo as background and add, move and resize photos and text—putting what they want where they want instead of being confined to templates. The new path also allows users to add embellishments anywhere in the book, and the high-performance platform can support up to 1,000 photos per book and up to 25 pictures per page.
Further, the new production path offers either Smart Autofill or Storyboard features, allowing customers to more quickly populate their books with photos so they can add captions and customize the pages. Beautifully designed wedding, travel and baby styles from top designers—such as Stacy Claire Boyd, Demby & Solomon and Ali Edwards—will be featured in the launch collection.
All Shutterfly photo books are produced at company-owned and operated manufacturing facilities using archive quality paper and professional binding, according to the highest standards for quality and printing. Shutterfly offers its customers 100 percent satisfaction guarantee.
