GAA Guides CPS Cards to Strategic Combination With SPC
Graphic Arts Advisors (GAA), a leading M&A advisory and consulting firm serving the printing, packaging, mailing, and graphic communications industries, served as exclusive M&A advisor to CPS Cards, Glendale Heights, Illinois, in the sale of the business to Specialty Print Communications (SPC), Niles, Illinois.
CPS Cards is a high-volume producer of paper and plastic cards, both generic and personalized, for direct mail, membership, loyalty, healthcare, gift card, and other applications. Founded in 1998, CPS Cards provides printing, personalization, packaging, and fulfillment services to both channel partners and direct clients.
“CPS operates in a highly specialized manufacturing niche, which naturally limited the pool of prospective buyers,” said Michael Wurst, Managing Director at Graphic Arts Advisors, who led the GAA advisory team on the transaction. “We were pleased with the substantial level of interest and the multiple competitive offers that emerged when we went to market. This gave our client, a family office, the opportunity to select the outcome that best served its objectives in divesting the asset while also providing continuity for CPS customers and employees.”
“After many years of watching the company grow and mature, we knew it was time to pass the torch to an industry veteran who could further develop the business and take it to the next level,” said Paul Moses, CFO of CPS Cards. “As a private family office going through generational changes, we looked for a strategic advisor with the expertise to manage the sale process professionally and work cooperatively with us. We found that with GAA and are delighted to hand off the reins to SPC. With its capabilities, deep expertise, and family-focused culture, we were confident in the cultural fit. SPC is a great fit for CPS Cards. Thank you, GAA.”
SPC is an independently owned producer of direct mail and marketing solutions, with offerings ranging from sophisticated, data-driven, high-volume mail programs to multichannel marketing campaigns. SPC helps companies grow sales and build lasting customer relationships. Celebrating 30 years as a family business, SPC operates offices and production facilities in Niles, Illinois.
“This was a strategic move that enables SPC to provide more efficient, end-to-end solutions for clients across retail, healthcare, insurance, and other key markets,” said Adam LeFebvre, President of SPC. “As we outlined the goals of this deal, it became clear to both sides that this was a natural fit that puts SPC into an advantageous market position with more firepower directly under our control.”
