2016 was quite a year for innovation and new developments on both the digital print and finishing side. But we’re about to jumpstart 2017 with Hunkeler's bi-annual Innovationdays in February. Unique among the various print trade shows and vendor-sponsored gatherings, Innovationdays is largely a finishing-centric showcase. And not just finishing, but digital finishing.

Hunkeler will hold its 12th Innovationdays in Lucerne, Switzerland, at the Messe Lucerne exhibition facility, Feb. 20-23.

The following is a sampling of just some of the new products that were featured at drupa 2016.

At drupa, Standard Finishing Systems once again partnered with Horizon International of Japan and Hunkeler AG.

Drupa 2016 proved a resounding success for Hunkeler AG.

Well, I've put another "drupa notch" on my belt, and it was quite an experience. The weather in Düsseldorf was good, and the crowds were there. For those who have never been, the sheer size of the show, and the enormous investment by the hundreds of firms exhibiting are truly mind-boggling. Deals were done, and many were for multiple high-priced systems, putting lots of smiles on vendor salespeople and management.

At drupa, Standard Hunkeler will show a comprehensive portfolio of unwinding, rewinding, cutting and folding solutions, and more.

Stefan Hunkeler is following in the footsteps of his 74-year-old father, Franz Hunkeler, who will be retiring from his position as chairman of the board at Hunkeler. Michel Hunkeler will be replacing Stefan Hunkeler as CEO, and will transfer overall responsibility for marketing and sales to Hans Gut, who has successfully managed the marketing division as a long-standing member of the executive board of Hunkeler.

Last August, Michel Hunkeler joined the board of management at Hunkeler, as a key element in the family’s succession planning.
