Last month Agfa Graphics held an open house for select industry journalists and customers at its new competence center in Mississauga, Ontario. The first of a series of North American "Red Carpet" customer events, the open house kicked off with a keynote presentation from Dominiek Arnout, Agfa Graphics' vice president/inkjet, and his team, who shared the latest in research developments and applications, as well as the changing dynamics in digital sign and display printing.

At FASTSIGNS International's annual convention in Anaheim, CA, a record-breaking 79 FASTSIGNS centers were recognized for exceeding $1 million in annual sales, including 71 locations in the United States, four in Canada, three in Australia and one in the United Kingdom.

From a sultry, jazz-inspired music lounge to a deep, rich red parlor, Agfa Pitman's "House of Asanti" application zone was created entirely by inkjet and is appearing exclusively at SGIA 2013. The "House of Asanti" will feature six rooms across two floors of both artistic and practical inkjet output.

Building on this year’s SGIA Expo theme of “The Full Spectrum of Specialty Imaging Technology and Equipment,” xpedx will feature a large collection of substrates and equipment for digital and wide-format printing.

At SGIA in Orlando, FL, next week, Fujifilm North America, Graphic Systems Division, will debut the Uvistar Pro-8 with White, a grand-format hybrid UV printer. The Pro-8W introduces white ink on this grand-format press for the first time enabling the Uvistar to produce stunning backlit signs by printing white ink over or under the CYMK image.

Cockrell Enovation, one of the largest full-service commercial printers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, had experienced steady growth in the franchise and retail space. It got to the point where an influx of new work forced Cockrell to farm out grand-format projects.

Fujifilm invited roughly 30 printers, ranging from screen to commercial printing operations, to its facility here for an Inkjet Technology Summit, Sept. 17-18. This two-day show-and-tell was actually held at the Crown Westin Hotel in Kansas City, MO, and at Fujifilm's offices just over the state line in Kansas City, KS.

There are many ways for lithographers to change their business models to promote growth, but there’s one proven approach based on the premise that it’s easier to sell additional services to an existing customer. Adding wide-format digital imaging is one way to add value for existing customers and gain entry to new markets.

Agfa Graphics announced that its wide-format digital printing experts will be on-hand for the company’s free Open House Technology demos on May 22-23, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 50 Meister Ave., Branchburg, NJ.
