Royle Printing hosted four college students over the summer for the 2019 Royle Internship Program. The program consists of a three-month commitment where students can work full or part-time. Based on the students’ interests and major, each intern is able to fully immerse themselves into their chosen sector – prepress, press, bindery, distribution, customer service, account management or sales. “The internship program is so much more than learning the trade of print; each intern becomes a part of the Royle family and culture,” stated Dawn Webber, director of human resources.
Below is a list of the 2019 Summer Interns, their different roles, and how they had an impact at the company.
- Kyle Koran worked as a finishing associate intern – he rotated around the department on different machines feeding pockets and ensuring each project was perfect from start to finish.
- Dorian Staeven worked as a lean manufacturing intern – he assisted in the development of the lean manufacturing programing and day to day implementation of it. Dorian was hired on as a full-time employee. His title is Lean Manufacturing Engineer and his official start date was July 22, 2019.
- Jeremy Nehmer worked as a supply chain management intern. He managed the day to day operations with the supply chain team.
- Teddy Endres worked as a lean manufacturing intern. He worked alongside Dorian and assisted in the development of the lean manufacturing program.
“It is awesome working at Royle as a full-time Lean Manufacturing Engineer, especially as our Lean/6S Department grows,” stated Dorian Staeven. “The culture here at Royle is simply amazing and surpassed all my expectations! Even as an intern, the sky was literally the limit in terms of the work I could do and the impact I could have.”
“Royle Printing was fortunate to have such a strong group of summer interns. Congratulations to the start of a successful school year to those returning to their universities and congrats to Dorian and the start of his career at Royle,” commented Chris Carpenter, president and owner of Royle Printing.
