Penn Litho Unveils Expansion
CERRITOS, CA—Penn Litho, a $40 million heatset web and sheetfed printing company, is embarking on a $3 million expansion. The printer is adding fulfillment and mailing capabilities, as a result of growing demand for fulfillment services by clients.
The mailing facility, which opened in January, contains two new Scitex 5240 ink-jet addressing systems with dryers and duplex capability.
The mailing capabilities are currently being housed in Penn Litho's existing plant, but will move to the new fulfillment center in the future. The fulfillment center will include warehousing, inventory management, pick and pack, customized kitting, direct mail services and digital printing.
The new, 65,000-square-foot facility will be located near the existing Penn Litho plant. The facility is scheduled to begin operation at the end of the first quarter.
Penn Litho has also purchased PrintStream management software to run the fulfillment operations, as well as their print divisions.
The new facility is just part of Penn Litho's overall expansion plan.
In the last six months, Penn Litho has been adding new salespeople, purchased two 16-page MBO folders to complement the existing seven folders.
The company also named Carol Geddes as president of Penn Litho in December 2002.
Previously, she served as vice president of sales and marketing, as well as interim general manager. Geddes joined the company in 1979 as a sales representative.
