Imprimerie Multiplus, Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec, recently installed three Versafire digital presses – its first digital investments with HEIDELBERG. Controlled via the Prinect Digital Frontend (DFE), the presses were selected as part of a strategic effort to better align digital and offset production.
Located southwest of Montreal, Imprimerie Multiplus is a full-service commercial printer offering digital and offset printing, large format printing, and roll to roll labels. Founded in 1993, the company has maintained strong customer loyalty by focusing on a personalized, service-driven approach. “Our daily challenge is to better understand our customers and deliver services and products that respect their values while offering the best value for money,” said Owner Pascal Lavigne.

To improve efficiency and streamline production, Multiplus turned to HEIDELBERG – its partner for nearly 25 years – to replace two competitive digital presses with the Versafire LP, Versafire LV, and black-and-white Versafire LM. Backed by an efficient installation and training process from HEIDELBERG, all three presses are powered by Prinect DFE, integrating seamlessly with Multiplus’ existing Prinect workflow and three HEIDELBERG offset presses.
“Since our offset department is already very familiar with Prinect, it only made sense to standardize offset and digital prepress within the same system,” said Lavigne.
Multiplus utilizes Prinect to color manage both its HEIDELBERG Speedmaster presses and Versafire digital presses, ensuring consistent results when running jobs for the same customer across different printing technologies. The company can efficiently produce both short and long runs on a wide range of substrates – from lightweight paper to 24-point stock and synthetics – using either its digital or offset presses. Prinect enables output to be switched between offset and digital production in seconds, including color adjustments, even at the last minute.
According to Lavinge, “Now that we are equipped with the latest and most efficient HEIDELBERG Versafire and Prinect technology, we can meet even the most demanding customer requirements.”
Alongside its three Versafire and three HEIDELBERG offset presses, Multiplus utilizes a complete suite of HEIDELBERG solutions, including a Suprasetter CtP, a Stahlfolder, and two POLAR cutters. “HEIDELBERG remains a key partner for us,” Lavigne said. “Looking ahead, we see our growth closely aligned with theirs, especially in digital solutions that help us meet our customers’ expectations for quality and speed.”
