Artisan print is not for everyone
In my last couple of articles I have been busy telling you all the advantages of artisan print. However, selling and creating artisan print requires the right mindset. In this article I want to make it clear what artisan customers expect, so you can make sure you have made the right decision to approach this market.
Here are five issues to consider:
You need to drive the customer
Most artisan print customers need help. They don’t know much about print or what they can achieve with it. They are open to ideas, but they will have to come from you. This also means that you will need to know about how their market works and how you can help them drive sales.
Artisan print requires customer service resource
The artisan print sector is not about order taking. Customers will want to discuss ideas. They will also need their hand holding through the print process, especially when it comes to artwork. You need to be sure your sales people or customer service team have the bandwidth for this level of service.
Customers can be more picky
Artisan print customers are rightly proud of their products. They need them to look good. That means that the print has to look good. So expect them to be demanding. Where necessary, make sure you can manage their expectations.
Artisan print can take more time
Artisan print is not about standard job formats. It is about creating print that stands out. And it is often about extra processes as well. If your factory is set up simply to manufacture jobs with maximum efficiency then artisan print is probably not be for you.
You may need to kiss some frogs
Many artisan print customers start small but have the potential for growth. However, not all customers will expand as they hope. Be prepared for disappointments along the way.
Don’t be negative about artisan print
This sector offers a lot of possibilities. It can definitely increase profits for the right printing company. Have a look at my previous article where I outline seven advantages.
