SCOTTSDALE, AZ—April 10, 2008—Brent Kantola, Prepress Manager at Rogers Printing, and Stephen White, Specialist, Integrated Manufacturing at Vertis Communications, were elected President and Vice President of DUO respectively at the recently concluded US Dalim Software Users Organization (DUO) meeting, held March 19-20 at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens. Presentations included a corporate membership address and business review from Dr. Carol Werlé, Dalim Software CEO, a number of product and technology updates, business and technology sessions, and valuable presentations from Tom Carroll, EVP Chief Human Resources Officer, RR Donnelley and Dov Isaacs, Principal Scientist, Adobe Systems Incorporated.
DUO provides an unbiased collaborative channel of communications between Dalim Software users, Dalim Software staff, as well as authorized resellers, where ideas and knowledge are freely exchanged for the benefit of everyone. The organization establishes and expands the general and advanced technical understanding of Dalim Software products, learns of new product and service developments, suggests enhancements, and provides both the membership and Dalim Software a means of direct inter-communication. To accomplish this, the organization conducts an annual meeting, offers an electronic forum (http://forum.dalim.com), and freely shares ideas among members, along with other activities.
The keynote speaker, Tom Carroll, EVP Chief Human Resources Officer, RR Donnelley, delivered a participatory presentation titled ‘Managing Change.’ As Mr. Carroll warned at the beginning of the session, “Some learn by listening, some learn by watching, and some learn by doing. No one is safe from contributing to this presentation.” While the discussion was designed to help technologists effectively help to foster change, it had relevance to personal and working lifestyles, in general.
Dov Isaacs, Principal Scientist at Adobe Systems Inc., whose responsibilities include those for workflow and product interoperability issues associated with print publishing workflow products-and who serves as the “spiritual venture capitalist” for the Adobe Print Engine technology-discussed the value of PDF in print workflows and how certain print issues are resolved.
