Shop Relocates From Maryland to Pennsylvania
WASHINGTON TWP., PA—Pacemaker Press PP&S, formerly of Frederick, MD, is relocating here and plans to construct a $2.5 million facility in the Wharf Road Industrial Park, according to Public Opinion Online.
Matt Whitney, president of Pacemaker, told Public Opinion that his 39-employee company could no longer afford to do business in Frederick because of the high cost of renting. Building a plant, as opposed to renting, will allow the printer to build equity and grow in the future, Whitney said.
The company will construct a 30,000-square-foot facility on 6.3 acres. To help fund the project, Pacemaker Press PP&S received a $1.1 million, 15-year loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority. It also received a $125,000 grant and $78,000 in job creation tax credits.
Whitney estimates the deal will close in late June or early July, with a groundbreaking slated for soon afterwards. The goal is to have the building completed by Dec. 1, then move in within two months (first quarter of 2015).
