Let’s take a few minutes to focus on a few key terms and explore how important sales and marketing concepts interrelate.
Desire is a powerful emotion, and the term and the full meaning of desire is part of the AIDA formula (Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action). Consider intent as the tool you will use to fulfill your desire, noting that intent is also one of the five main elements of the business (B2B) buying cycle. Combining the two provides a transformational base to convert your business or marketing dreams to reality. Desire also fits well within the IX Muses I have discussed previously: (Relevance, Interaction, Integration, Engagement, Dialogue, Content, Context, Metrics, and ROI). Based on my formula, desire is a combination of the first three Muses.
Taking our thinking a step further, intent can be rendered even more useful and impactful if you consider what you do — the services you offer — in the same language as your client. This language, in most instances reflects what marketers call the "Seven Pillars of Sales Promotion" — Advertising, Direct Marketing, Interactive, Sales Promotion, Publicity, Publicity, Personal Selling, and Exhibitions.
Transformation is not possible until you develop a broad-based, yet focused formula that demonstrates your being relevant to the vertical you are targeting to develop new business.
