Kodak, Sun Chemical Announce Price Increases
March 4, 2011

ROCHESTER, NY—Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group will increase the worldwide prices of its digital and conventional plates as of May 1. The company cited the “sustained, universal rise” in costs for key raw materials and utilities used in the production of offset plates in announcing the new rates.

Sun Chemical to Increase Prices of Sheetfed, Energy Curable Inks
March 1, 2011

Sun will raise prices on April 1, 2011, by 4 percent for SunLit Diamond, SunLit Intense and SunLit Exact sheetfed process color inks and 8 percent for all other sheetfed process color inks. The increase will be 7 percent for energy curable commercial printing inks.

Sun Chemical to Increase Prices on Products Containing Violet 23 Pigments

Violet 23 pigments are used in a variety of conventional sheetfed and UV inks at Sun Chemical. Two of the key raw materials needed for the production of the Violet 23 pigment, carbazole and chloranil, have faced a significant supply shortage in both China and Germany due to consolidations and increased demand.
