Your Shop Has a Standard for Everything ... Except AI
Walk through any well-run print shop and you'll find standards everywhere. There's a target for color and a tolerance for registration. There's a lockout procedure on the folder and a sign-off before a job ships. We write these rules down because we've learned, sometimes the hard way, what happens when we don't.
Now ask the same shop what its rules are for artificial intelligence. Most will go quiet. Only 7% of manufacturing leaders say they have a defined and tested AI playbook. Just 14% feel extremely prepared for AI privacy and security challenges, the lowest of any industry surveyed. That's not a technology gap. It's a management gap, and it's one our industry knows how to close.
AI is already on the floor
Whether or not anyone approved it, AI is already at work in most shops. An estimator pastes a customer's spec sheet into a chatbot to rough out a quote. A CSR uses an AI tool to draft replies to a brand owner, with the artwork and pricing attached. Someone in prepress tries an AI plug-in to clean up a low-res logo. A vendor quietly adds AI features to the MIS you already pay for.
None of these are bad ideas on their own. The trouble is that in most shops, nobody is watching. No one decided what customer files can go into which tools. No one is keeping a record of what the AI produced or who checked it. And if something goes wrong, such as confidential packaging artwork turning up somewhere it shouldn't or a bad number making it into a signed quote, no one knows how to shut it off.
75 minutes to get your rules started
That's the thinking behind Nobody's Watching, a 75-minute live webinar for printing and packaging teams. It isn't a lecture about AI, and it isn't a software demo. It's a working session. Expect short pauses to apply each idea to your own shop, live polls, situations drawn from real print and packaging work, and time for your questions.
You'll leave with more than notes. Everything below is released during or right after the session:
- A starter set of AI rules for your shop, ready to finish by Monday and take to your team
- A clear line between what AI may do and what must stay with a person
- A way to judge any AI vendor before you sign
- A scored picture of your shop's AI readiness, with a suggested next step
- Editable handouts in Word and PDF, including the Print Shop AI Rules Starter Edition
- The full replay within 24 hours
- An invitation to a 20-minute one-to-one review of your readiness score
Our industry built its reputation on getting things right before they reach the customer. AI deserves the same care. You already have a standard for color, safety and quality. These 75 minutes are where your standard for AI begins.
