Is color important to what you do? If the answer is any shade of yes or maybe, then this year’s G7+ Exchange, to be held Sept. 22 in Las Vegas, the day before PRINTING United Expo, is a can’t-miss event.
Coming back for year two after a strong debut at last year’s Expo, Joe Marin, senior vice president, Member Services, PRINTING United Alliance — and this year’s event manager — notes this year will be a tighter, more focused event with something for everyone.
"Our goal isn't to impress people with theory. It's to make sure everyone walks out with one practical thing they didn't have when they got there,” he stresses. The agenda includes an opening keynote that will bring everyone together around color — brands, designers, and printers alike — followed by roundtables split into beginner and advanced tracks, so everyone can talk about color where they currently are. The agenda is rounded out with sessions on things like sustainability and practical demonstrations on how to get better color.
Marin notes that this year’s Exchange is for anyone who touches color in any capacity. “Press operators, prepress and design folks, brand owners, print buyers, plant managers, CSRs — and that ranges from people who've never heard of G7, to certified G7+ Experts,” he says. “You don't need to know the methodology to get value out of the day. A lot of what people take away comes from the conversations: solving a problem they've been stuck on, meeting the right person, or finally understanding why their color drifts and what to do about it.”
The overall structure of the event is “less a lecture series and more a place where people who deal with color problems every day can compare notes and walk out with something they can actually use,” Marin says. In other words: No matter what your color knowledge or problem is, the G7+ Exchange will give you practical tips you can walk away with and implement in your workflow immediately.
"If color matters to your work, you belong in the room. We built this for the expert who wants to talk shop and for the person who's still figuring out what G7 even is,” Marin concludes. For those who want to attend, registration is open now. The half-day event concludes with a reception, and is $49 per person.
