Total Printing-Writing Paper Shipments Declined in November
WASHINGTON, DC—Dec. 22, 2010—According to the American Forest & Paper Association’s November 2010 “Printing-Writing Paper Report,” total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 2 percent last month compared to November 2009. U.S. purchases (shipments + imports – exports) of printing-writing papers decreased, declining 3 percent in November. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels increased 3 percent compared to the previous month.
Some additional key findings include:
• Uncoated free sheet (UFS) shipments declined year-over-year for the sixth consecutive month.
• Coated free sheet (CFS) shipments increased year-over-year for the 13th consecutive month.
• Coated mechanical (CM) year-to-date shipments lead 2009 for the 11th consecutive month, while inventories are 22 percent lower than year-end 2009.
• Uncoated mechanical (UM) shipments increased year-over-year for the 10th time in 2010.
