TKS to Print Editions of The Wall Street Journal on the Jetleader Inkjet Press at drupa
TOKYO—April 2, 2012—TKS will exhibit and demonstrate the Jetleader 1500 digital inkjet press at this year’s drupa. The company will also exhibit a static Low Profile Double Wide Tower unit.
The daily and live production runs will produce the current day’s U.S. edition of The Wall Street Journal output as a complete finished multiple section, full-color broadsheet product. TKS will receive daily edition files at its booth and print copies during the show. It will also demonstrate other live product formats from the Jetleader, including sheeted product from the VITS Multicut LP27 sheeter and press scheduling software.
The Jetleader was introduced in 2011 after two years of in house testing and development. This new revolutionary drop on demand web fed press can print a multitude of multi section broadsheet newspaper and commercial products and formats finished in line. It has variable image and format capability.
The press can run on a variety of substrates and uses water based pigmented ink. It uses no plates, has no dampening system, uses substantially less electricity than a conventional offset press and has a small footprint.
Some of the general specifications are:
- Product size will be 21.5˝cutoff by 24˝ web width broad sheet in multiple sections
- Speed 492 fpm
- Resolution (max.) 600 x 600 dpi
Also being exhibited at the booth is the Color Top Ecowide (4x1) double wide unit. This low profile unit is designed specifically for installations in buildings that have tight conditions. The main specifications of this press are:
