The Legislative Agenda for 2009
The Board of Directors and Government Affairs Committee met in mid-November to analyze the 2008 election results and determine the Printing Industries of America’s legislative agenda for the 110th Congress. The biennial Advocacy Agenda is formulated with input from the association-wide issues survey that was conducted recently in October Thank you to all who participated in this year’s survey, and special thanks to those who participated in the committee meeting.
At the meeting, members and affiliate managers analyzed labor, employee benefits, tax, postal and environmental policies to determine the top priorities facing the industry. Healthcare benefits, climate change legislation and card check legislation are among the top issues facing the printing industry.
The PIA will vigorously lobby on behalf of members’ concerns. The new bluePRINT for the 111th Congress will highlight the legislative agenda and be presented to all members of the new Congress early next year.
