Connecticut Printer Could Be Facing Closure
NORWICH, CT—A troubled commercial printer here appears to be headed for closure as another printer moved to hire away its employees. Thames Printing employees were told by an executive of West Haven, CT-based GHP Media that Thames is transferring its work to GHP and that it will eventually close, according to The Day.
A number of salespeople have already moved from Thames to GHP, the executive told Thames workers, and the remaining Thames employees could apply for jobs with GHP. A source told the newspaper that GHP has been negotiating to purchase Thames.
Employees were allegedly told that once GHP becomes an authorized vendor for Thames' biggest client, Mohegan Sun, that will spell the end of Thames.
According to The Day, Thames has had difficulties with cash flow and making payroll in recent months.
