Pennsylvania Printer in Trouble with OSHA
WAYMART, PA—S.G. Printing has been cited for alleged repeated and serious workplace safety and health violations by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and faces fines in excess of $107,000, the Wayne Independent reported.
A safety and health complaint prompted an OSHA investigation last December. Citations were issued on four repeat violations totaling just under $75,000 and nine "serious" violations that carry a penalty of $32,850, the paper reported.
According to the Independent, the violations include deficiencies in the company's lockout/tagout procedures, inadequate machine guarding and combustible dust hazards. The 35-employee company has 15 business days to comply or contest the citations, or request an informal conference with a local OSHA director.
