Resolute Forest Products $100M Expansion Project of Calhoun, TN, Mill to Create 50 Additional Jobs
CALHOUN, TN—August 20, 2014—Resolute Forest Products is proceeding with a $100 million investment, with the addition of a 220-foot-high pulp digester at its location here, reported WDEF-TV. The new machinery will reportedly allow the mill to produce more than 100 different grades of paper, while also using the pulp for other products. The entire project is expected to be completed by next October.
The company announced that it will also hire an additional 50 employees. According to Rob Martin, general mill manager at the Resolute Forest Calhoun site, the types of positions that the company is looking to fill are operational, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and engineer positions.
"[Resolute Forest Products] is transforming their business model from old-style newsprint manufacturing to making a wide variety of new products that are in demand for the 21st Century," Bill Hagerty, Tennessee's Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, told WDEF-TV.
