LAFAYETTE, La. — November 10, 2016 — Ace Specialties, a promotional products, uniform work wear and personal protection products company based here, is profiting handsomely from Donald Trump's presidential campaign and victory, according to WBRC-TV. The local television station reported that Ace Specialties provided the hats and t-shirts emblazoned with the now-iconic "Make America Great Again" catch phrase. In addition, WRBC-TV said that campaign finance records filed this summer revealed that the Trump campaign spent at least $4.7 million on personalized merchandise supplied by Ace Specialties. The hats also sell for $25 on the Trump campaign website.
Before its parlay into presidential politics, Ace Specialties, which was founded in 2007, focused on the oil and gas industry.
The station said Ace Specialties owner Christl Mahfouz would not discuss aspects of her Trump campaign business with them. But it did indicate that Mahfouz is a board member and co-founder of Sky High for St. Jude, a charitable foundation that is connected to The Eric Trump Foundation (Donald Trump's son).
According to her bio information listed on the foundation's website, Mahfouz is a graduate of Louisiana University-Lafayette. In 2013, she was also runner-up for the Louisiana Small Business Administration Women in Business Champion Award in recognition for her business entrepreneurship and for creating local job growth.
