PRINECT
“Last-minute coating” with Prinect Color Editor
The situation: very late in production, the customer decides to add coatings in areas not specified in the original files. The printer then has to create and add masks for the coating form--assuming that there are editable files to work with. A simpler and faster solution is to use Prinect Color Editor, an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that can create coating forms for individual page elements or the entire layout.
Here’s how: generate a PDF of the job, open it in Adobe Acrobat, and start Prinect Color Editor. Select “New” in the “Varnish” window to define a color. Enter the name of the coating and define how the coating to is to be depicted in Acrobat. Now it’s possible to select the elements to be coated (image, text, color vignette, etc.). Apply the settings to create the coating form, and the task is done.
