PRESS Four colors with two units (or one)
It's possible to produce high-quality four-color jobs on the Printmaster QM 46 when some simple rules are followed--including the one about applying color in the right sequence. Don't print the colors with the highest densities in the same pass. Always print a heavy coverage color with a light coverage color; avoid running the two colors with the highest percentage of coverage together. This helps improve wet ink trap.
Select and run the darker color and higher tack of ink on the second printing unit and the lighter color with the lower tack of ink on the first unit. The recommended color sequence for the Printmaster QM 46-2 is cyan/black in the first pass and yellow/magenta in the second. With the Printmaster QM 46-1, the best color sequence is, as with all single-color presses, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.
