Precision Employees Laid Off, Taunted
PEMBROKE, NH—Precision Technology, a printer of direct mail advertisements, closed without warning on August 27, leaving 130 employees in shock and without jobs, according to the Concord Monitor.
President and owner Dennis Savitsky owes the city more than $280,000 in back taxes, according to the newspaper, and is apparently in violation of the federal WARN Act, which stipulates that companies with more than 100 workers must provide 60 days closure notice.
Employees said that there were signs the company was in trouble. One 27-year veteran of Precision reported the air conditioning was shut off during the height of summer, leaving workers to broil during 10-hour shifts.
Adding insult to injury, according to the newspaper, was the appearance of ex-Precision Technology employees now on the payroll of a rival printer.
They reportedly stood across the street after news of the lockout spread in order to taunt their former co-workers and to take pictures of them using their cell phones. The Precision Technology workers had shown up to gather their personal belongings and paychecks. PI
