Morgana Systems: Bookletmakers and PUR Binding at PRINT 13
MARIETTA, GA—July 23, 2013—Morgana Systems Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of equipment for digital finishing, has announced details of its exhibit for PRINT 13, taking place Sept. 8-12 in Chicago. The company can be found at booth #3561, close to its major customer base, the digital print engine manufacturers.
Morgana Systems USA will have a strong presence at PRINT 13 where the product range will be significantly enhanced and expanded following the recent acquisition of the business by Plockmatic International.
Best in Bookletmakers
A complete new range of bookletmakers will take center stage, including the System 2000S—a product that is capable of producing booklets of up to 120 pages. The system will be fed by the ACF510, a hybrid feeder capable of feeding pre-collated sets from a digital print engine, collating litho printed sections, or indeed combining both into a finished book product. The heavy-duty bookletmaking section comes complete with wire stitching heads, fore-edge trimmer, and the Morgana Squarefold 2000 to give a professional perfect bound effect to the finished product.
The System 2000S will be shown with the optional CST unit. This unit can edge-trim the sheets before the bookletmaking section, meaning the work can be taken straight from the press to the finishing unit with no need to trim the edges on a guillotine. This helps to make the whole process much more streamlined. The CST comes complete with a creasing mechanism helping to eliminate cracking on digital print or cross grained cover stock.
Other bookletmaking systems on show from the range include the System 200e being fed by the AC510 feeder and the entry-level BM60 hand-fed machine for lower volume print shops and CRD’s.
Commenting on the launch of the System 2000S, Alan Oppenheim, North American Manager for Morgana, said: “The new System 2000S bookletmakers provide an extended range of performance variations from Morgana’s existing DocuMaster products. With output capabilities right through to 3,000 booklets per hour, and the ability to create publications of up to 120 pages, this range will satisfy the needs of a wide range of American print shops. The products can incorporate side-stitching, creasing, and a number of combinations of sheet and pre-printed sheets collation.”
PUR for Short-run
PUR is the strongest, most flexible binding adhesive available, offering several additional advantages over other binding adhesives. When inks, coatings or digital print toners are present in the spine area these can often compromise the strength of a typical hot-melt perfect binding. PUR is resistant to this and will form a super-strong bond with all weights and finishes of paper stocks. In addition PUR works well with synthetic and recycled-content stocks.
