Kodak Nexpress Platform Upgrades to be Unveiled at drupa
ROCHESTER, NY—April 24—During drupa 2012, Kodak will unveil additional enhancements for the Kodak Nexpress digital color platform. Meeting the needs of commercial printers, direct mail houses, photo service providers, in-plant printers, and transactional printers, the Nexpress Platform offers exceptional quality and productivity.
The newest enhancements, which include a new turbo mode, 36˝/914 mm-long sheet option and Kodak Nexpress Intelligent Calibration System (ICS) version 3 software, are designed to help printers improve image quality, application flexibility and production speed. Visitors can learn about these latest upgrades at the Kodak stand (Hall 5, F09-1).
“Kodak understands the challenges that printers face to remain competitive. Our ongoing innovations and upgradeability to the Nexpress Platform will undoubtedly help these printers continue to meet the dynamic needs of their customers today and in the future,” said Steve Fletcher, Kodak’s vice president and general manager of Electrophotographic Printing Solutions. “Our differentiated solutions help printers leverage their investment in the Nexpress Platform, and through these upgrades, they can achieve even greater efficiency. Whether their clients require faster turnarounds or expanded printing applications, these advancements will allow printers to fully optimize the Nexpress Platform.”
The new turbo mode capability will combine high-quality digital color production with peak productivity. Turbo mode supports speeds up to 166 A4/letter pages per minute on the Nexpress SX3900 Platform while printing 2-up on A3+ sheets or on finished size A4/letter-size sheets. The new feature is ideal for commercial, transactional, and direct mail printing applications, especially when customers require high-volume prints under tight schedules.
With the new 36″/914 mm-long cut sheet option, printers will be able to offer larger applications, including point of sale, book covers, dust jackets, packaging inserts, labels and more. The Nexpress Platform prints on nearly 800 supported substrates out of the box, and operators have the ability to add a virtually limitless number of custom substrates. With this substrate range and the expanded capability to print on extra-long sheets, printers can expand their offerings for additional business growth and opportunities.
