Japs-Olson Completes Successful Service Organization Controls 2 Type 2 Audit

MINNEAPOLIS—November 5, 2013—Japs-Olson Co., a leading provider of commercial printing and direct mail services, announced the successful completion of a Service Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type 2 audit. The audit covers the company’s direct mail production and commercial printing services for the period March 1, 2013, to Aug. 31, 2013, and assures that controls were suitably designed and operating effectively.

Grant Thorton LLP issued the unqualified opinion on Oct. 18, assuring Japs-Olson’s clients that the controls meet or exceed the prescribed criteria for the Security and Confidentiality principles as defined by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The criteria included a review of Japs-Olson’s policies, procedures and processes as well as testing of related controls to ensure that confidential client information was handled appropriately while in Japs-Olson’s possession.

“Our customers have expressed to us the importance of security and confidentiality when handling their sensitive data,” said Michael Beddor, CEO of Japs-Olson. “By achieving SOC 2 Type 2 compliance, we have not only demonstrated that the design of our process is effective, but have proven it through extensive, independent testing.”

The SOC 2 meets the needs of a broad range of users that need information and assurance about the controls at a service organization.
