KENNESAW, GA—09/29/2006—Heidelberg USA announces the following sample of new product installations:
Paulson Press Turns Up the Speed with New Speedmaster XL 105 from Heidelberg
Paulson Press, a full-service general commercial printer located in Elk Grove Village, Ill., recently added a six-color Speedmaster XL 105 to its all-Heidelberg pressroom. According to company President Ben Letto, the ultra-productive XL 105 is helping Paulson serve its clients better and faster - critical capabilities for a company where, “Every sheet of product that goes out the door is a part of me,” Letto says, adding, “If you don’t react quickly to your customers’ needs, you get left behind.” While the Speedmaster XL 105 has been fully up and running for only a few weeks, it has already more than doubled Paulson’s throughput of brochures, direct mail and flat envelope printing. “It’s like having a big monster to feed,” Letto says, adding that the company runs the new press at least five days a week, around the clock to keep up with demand. Paulson also operates a pair of 40-inch Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102 perfectors, one five-color and one two-color; a Suprasetter computer-to-plate device with Heidelberg Saphira thermal plates; as well as three Stahlfolders and two POLAR paper cutters. With 32 employees, the family-run company serves a diversified clientele throughout the Chicagoland area.
Colorado Printing Co. Takes on New Challenges with Ease with Speedmaster SM 102
Dan Thurlow, CEO of Colorado Printing Co., is not one to back down from a challenge. Instead of halting production on his shop’s presses while moving to a new 146,000-square-foot facility in Grand Junction, Colo., Thurlow and partner Mike Antonucci installed Heidelberg’s eight-color Speedmaster SM 102 with perfector in his new location to ensure continued production during the transition. The shop’s demand has increased so much that both the new SM 102 and the shop’s existing ten-color Speedmaster SM 102 are currently running at maximum speeds, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “The Speedmaster SM 102 is extremely reliable,” said Antonucci. The new press with the Preset Plus Feeder and Delivery has provided an increase in capacity - more capacity from one press than the shop was experiencing with two older presses. Colorado Printing Co. uses almost all Heidelberg products and equipment in both prepress and press, including a ten-color Speedmaster SM 74 and five-color SM 74 with aqueous coater. “What makes our partnership with Heidelberg work is a combination of good equipment and great service,” said Thurlow, who currently has more than 100 employees. Thurlow and Antonucci also use Heidelberg’s systemservice 36plus. “We are 250 miles from any big city, so quick service is important for us,” they said. Founded in 1947, Colorado Printing Co. is an all four-color commercial printer, specializing in marketing materials and brochures for special interest publications and real estate companies.
