Graphicscalve, a company providing comprehensive printing services across national and international levels, managing all stages of production, has recently acquired the HP Pagewide 2200 Advantage. This acquisition aims to deliver superior print quality, greater operational flexibility, and support printing on various types of applications, including transactional documents, direct mail, manuals, and books.
Graphicscalve’s story began over 40 years ago, starting as a small artisanal printing shop based in Vilminore di Scalve, in the province of Bergamo, Italy. The strategic acquisition of the HP PageWide 2200 Advantage has enabled the company to grow into a fully-fledged graphic print service provider, leading to the opening of a second production site in Costa di Mezzate (Bergamo). Today, the Group employs over 150 people and in addition to its traditional printing activities – sheet-fed and web offset printing, roto-offset, direct mail, transactional printing, prepress services, packaging, logistics, and digital printing – it has established two business units to develop innovative business projects called SPHERO and PHIN.
SPHERO is the visual communication business unit through which the company manages projects from concept to final installation. SPHERO offers unique solutions using innovative, increasingly eco-friendly materials for any environment, wall, floor, or glass surface. PHIN, on the other hand, is the business unit that provides next-generation digital services, offering solutions that simplify the experience for individuals and help businesses of all sizes streamline operations and meet the needs of their customers.
In 2023, the group relaunched its e-commerce platform, www.doctaprint.com, powered by advanced digital technologies. This is dedicated to ready-to-print services for small or medium orders, targeting individuals and agencies with greater efficiency and customization.
The decision to install the new HP PageWide 2200 Advantage at the Costa di Mezzate (BG) facility in late 2023 was driven by the desire to offer clients enhanced quality and flexibility, with the ability to print on various types of paper across a wide range of weights, including untreated offset paper. Thanks to the extensive range of media types and weight variability, the goal is to further expand the applications suitable for high-speed digital printing.
The collaboration with HP has enabled Graphicscalve to overcome significant business challenges, including the ability to obtain and consult accurate and reliable production data through the HP PrintOS system. This platform allows for in-depth analysis of production performance, enabling the company to refine and adjust proposals presented to clients. HP has delivered on the promises made during the pre-sales phase, promising that the HP PageWide technology ensures high productivity and exceptional quality standards, as well as reliability that guarantees production within the expected timelines.
"Following our experience with the HP Indigo 12000 press and the entire HP team, it was a natural choice for our company to continue this journey with the new HP PageWide 2200 Advantage," declared Ezio Ferrari, CEO of Graphicscalve. "The pillars of our collaboration with HP lie in the seriousness and professionalism of the people we work with daily, as well as the significant development and service offered by HP systems. Thanks to HP Pagwide 2200 Advantage we are now able to deliver higher quality service to our customers, who have immediately noticed and appreciated this new technology applied to their works.”
HP's technologies have also proven to be fully aligned with the company's needs in terms of sustainable development. Quality, safety and environmental sustainability are central values in Graphicscalve's corporate culture, paying particular attention to the use of “eco-sustainable” materials and processes throughout all stages of printing, production, and packaging. Growing environmental awareness among clients has further reinforced this commitment, leading the company toward a more sustainable production approach. With HP's new technologies, the company now uses mineral oil-free inks with very low VOC content (<150gr liter).
This installation not only represents a technological advancement but also a strengthening of the partnership between Graphicscalve and HP, based on integrity, professionalism, and continuous development.
