Fire Reduces Detroit Printer to Rubble
DETROIT—An explosion and fire early Wednesday morning destroyed DMH Printing, a business that had been in operation for only a few months. No injuries were reported, but an apparent gas explosion completely wiped out the building, according to CBS Detroit.
Darrius Hooper, owner of DMH, said the business was beginning to pick up as word spread regarding his products and capabilities. But the shop has lost thousands of dollars' worth of printing equipment and its 12 employees are jobless less than three weeks before Christmas.
"We're just trying to help the community and, wow, this is what we get," Hooper told CBS Detroit. "And then it's Christmas time and we're trying to help kids as well, and we can't even help ourselves now."
The explosion and fire are under investigation.
