Accident at Printer Causes Scare for Youngster
EL BETHEL, TN—Tragedy was narrowly averted last Saturday when a drunk driver slammed into the home of USA Printing, leaving the property in shambles but sparing the life of an 18-month-old toddler who was sleeping nearby.
According to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette, the driver—Timothy Wayne Leverette—lost control of his Ford Explorer SUV, smashed into a parked Oldsmobile Alero, and drove both vehicles into the back of the printing establishment. That is also where Matthew Hicks and his young son, Kayden, were living. Donald Hicks, Matthew's father, is owner of USA Printing.
A neighbor heard the crying shrieks of the child and dug through the rubble, where the little boy was found shaken up but uninjured, according to the newspaper. Two newspaper presses were damaged, and USA Printing was closed for a couple days to make repairs.
Leverette checked out OK from a local medical center and was taken to Bedford County Jail, held on an $8,000 bond.
