Dickinson Press, Kingsport Book Launch New Short-Run Four-Color Commercial Printing Facility
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - February 20th, 2018 - Kingsport Book LLC is excited to announce the launch of its newly built Kingsport Book Commercial. Kingsport Book Commercial was built with the goal of being able to offer the most competitive, short-run four-color book and commercial printing solution available in the industry. Phase 1 of this multi-million expansion continues to build on the goals established by PCC (Printer Consolidation Co.), a Blackford Capital portfolio company to build a world-class company focused on the ever-changing needs of the book printing industry.
Kingsport Book, located in Church Hill, Tenn., has developed a strong reputation as a high-end book finishing and fulfillment company. To complement the deluxe bindery operation, a sister company has been built to service short-run offset and digital printing needs as well as to support the surrounding areas with the most advanced equipment available. In the expanded 135,000-sq.-ft. facility, a 10-color Komori perfecting press has been installed along with finishing, prepress and digital equipment.
“The addition of Kingsport Book Commercial is in direct response to the needs of our customers, as we see an ever-growing demand for children’s books, four-color short-run trade books and four color religious books,” said Aaron Day, CEO of PCC.
Fred Cooper, VP of Kingsport Book, also noted, "If you look around the region, there has been a serious lack of investment in equipment that can print high-end books, commercial products and packaging products, yet the demand for these products remains strong and is growing with the rapid growth of the e-commerce engine that the State of Tennessee is building.”
Rick Jennings, VP of Kingsport Book, also added, "We know this investment will allow many regional companies to keep up with their ever-growing need for high-quality, short-run printing, and we know that by opening up this equipment to the trade, many companies will take advantage of our new facility."
PCC is expanding its services beyond its core book printing business and has launched a major 2018 initiative to gain market share in financial services printing and healthcare printing.
“Kingsport Book Commercial will be the base platform from which we will grow and offer new services,” concluded Day. The State of Tennessee is very strategically located for the efficient delivery of mail and we have just started addressing this growing demand.
