In the "Becoming a Media Solutions Provider: Adding Digital Publishing to the Services Mix" Webinar, recently presented by Printing Impressions and sponsored by BlueToad, Arianna Valentini, senior research analyst, digital marketing and media, at InfoTrends, discussed how digital publishing technology can be used in conjunction with print to deliver new, value-added services and better results for clients. The Webinar was moderated by Mark Michelson, editor-in-chief of Printing Impressions.
The Webinar discussed how print/marketing services providers can create new business models around digitizing customers' formerly print-centric documents, enabling them to provide communications to their customers in the format and medium that they so choose. Some of the other topics that Valentini addressed were the increasing dominance of mobile devices, rates of adoption of tablet and media devices for publications, bringing print and digital publications together, and what to look for in a digital publication software solution.
"Today we have a newer and more complex publishing model, so companies are now having to compete for the attention of their audience because people can now choose how they receive their media," explained Valentini. "The new model of publishing requires that a company needs to be smart, personalized and channel-agnostic, so it can travel throughout any media and devices to meet its intended goal."
When looking for digital publishing software, Valentini pointed out that printers should find solutions that allow for digital publishing workflows to merge seamlessly with their print-based workflows. Also get input from your prepress operators, and find software vendors with case studies or experience working with commercial printers.
