Capabilities of New Digital Press Lead to Largest Mailer Job in Shop's 34-Year History
NAPLES, FL—With the help of Advanced Print Technologies, Naples Print Source recently added an MGI Meteor DP8700XL digital press that's available with up to a 47˝ sheet length capability option.
Although the print shop didn't purchase the Meteor XL for the super-format capabilities, it is now a new growth area for the business. "Once the Meteor XL was installed, we ran a super-format piece that no one else in our market can do without a large offset run," explains Blase Ciabaton, Naples Print Source's owner since 2013. "This sample got us in the door of a very large client and we ended up doing the largest mailer in our 34-year history."
Prior to installing the Meteor XL, the company outsourced full-color envelopes and ran addresses separately. Now, the shop can print full-color envelopes and address them simultaneously right alongside its offset process.
Sheetfed Press Installation Supports New Imagine! Division, New Vision
MINNEAPOLIS—Imagine! Print Solutions has installed its eighth KBA Rapida press, a 41˝ KBA Rapida 105, at its newest division, Imagine! Minneapolis Express. Bob Lothenbach, president and founder of Imagine!, says the sheetfed press was chosen to help handle the division's tremendous growth of more than 200 percent in sales since 2012.
The new press comes with fully automated quality control and vision inspection systems, capabilities that will complement the company's robust offerings in large- and grand-format UV printing, framing and interior décor solutions.
The new Rapida 105 is in full production at Imagine! Express Minneapolis' 80,000-square-foot facility downtown, which was purchased last summer when the company changed its name from DigiGraphics. "We would like to see Imagine! Express locations throughout the country...," says Lothenbach. "This is the beginning of that vision."
