Citrograph Printing, Based in Redlands, CA, Holds Open House as Part of 127th Anniversary
REDLANDS, CA—July 16, 2014—"The Citrograph has come to stay" were the words that founder Scipio Craig said back in July 16, 1887, and Citrograph Printing is celebrating its 127th year in business by holding an open house, according to Redlands Daily Facts.
Today, the company offers full-color offset printing and digital quick printing, and is reported to be Redlands' oldest business, as well as the oldest continually-operating print house in California. Citrograph has many historic objects on display inside its shop including newspapers, books, and a turn-of-the-century printing press. It also offers tours of its facility.
"The synergy of mixed media for marketing continues to grow in appeal," said Co-owner Al Hernandez. "Print remains as a powerful marketing tool when paired with Web and social media. Citrograph is uniquely positioned to serve our clients with expertise in all aspects of media, marketing and promotion."
The company also established the Citrograph Scholarship Fund in 2002 to offer assistance to students pursuing careers in the fields of music, business and graphic design.
"The change will allow for greater opportunities to help support students pursue their educations, and also open a window for new efforts," noted Ryan Baile, co-owner. "Giving back to the community is a critical part of what we do at Citrograph. We are committed to supporting our Foundation, and supporting the efforts of other local organizations doing great work in Redlands."
At the open house, the company will display the Chandler & Price Gordon Press and type cases stocked with type used on the press, as well as historical documents, including "Twentieth Century Redlands – The City of Homes Fruits and Flowers," originally printed by the Citrograph in early 1900; and the Smiley Memorial edition of "The Citrograph" dated Feb. 28, 1903, reported Redlands Daily Facts.
