Datamark Systems Closing; 400 Workers Jobless
LAVAL, PQ, CANADA—Datamark Systems announced it will permanently close its doors at the end of March, leaving more than 400 employees at its headquarters here and a subsidiary plant in LaSalle out of work, The Suburban News reported.
Employees were informed of the closure at a meeting in late February. In a letter to workers, CEO Jeffrey Zunenshine said the company was exploring every option to keep it as an ongoing concern, including a sale.
About 230 employees work at the LaSalle operation, the News reported.
Founded in 1978, Datamark has changed hands a number of times. It went public after being acquired by Komunik in 2007, but within two years entered bankruptcy protection before defaulting. Its assets were purchased by four men, including Zunenshine, and in 2013 it was acquired by 7123628 Canada.
