Seaway Printing is a family-owned company in Wisconsin. The address is in Green Bay, but it’s on a development land outside the city with more businesses being built next to Seaway Printing. Seaway Printing is a book printer with a highly automated production. At its core, you find three Heidelberg presses — two with Heidelberg Cutstar enabling reel-based feeding of the presses, but the newest is even smarter as it has automatic loading of plates, all the bells and whistles you can wish for, and before the Cutstar, you’ll find a Contiweb Auto-splicer. The auto-splicer enables the offset press to run virtually uninterrupted, and for now, CEO Kevin Heslin tells how the machine produced 100,000 sheets uninterrupted, leaving Seaway Printing as one of the most efficient printing companies in the world. The same Contiweb solution is also installed on the company’s HP T-250 which has given an even higher productivity gain as the time to change rolls on the T-series takes longer time, and there the auto-splicer has given Seaway an even higher productivity gain — impressive, but see the story for your self here — and the full version on INKISH.TV.
