100th Blog Post
Outsourcing
CEO Ken Swanson lays out how you can ensure quality from your outsourcing provider. Should you outsource advertising and marketing production? We help you decide. And if you decide to outsource, here is a checklist to help your initiative succeed. VP of Graphic Production and Support Services Joanna Grant tells you what to ask your prospective vendor if you are planning to outsource artwork and embroidery digitizing.
Advertising
How can brands keep pace with the rapid growth of interactive advertising? VP of Marketing Kelly Glass has some answers. VP of Solutions Management TJ Ceballos wonders how the iPad will change publishing design. I suggested 3 reasons display ads are better than search ads.
Design
We featured some of the best designs our people created in 2010 in these three blog posts. We also showcased some stunning pieces of embroidery based on famous works of art. We gave away tips on typography for ad design. I curated tips on digitizing text from our embroidery team.
Marketing
Last month, I got the opportunity to attend the Click Asia Summit in Mumbai, where experts from around the world gave their views on digital marketing. Here are two posts full of marketing education that I gained there, on SEO and on social media marketing. While we're on social media. . . Kelly wrote about how newspapers can use Facebook.
HR and Productivity
I offered 6 tips for working remotely, which was picked up by WordPress and remains our most read and commented post. VP of Human Resources Tinna Hall had a ton of recruiting advice, including tips for job interviews, for creating a resume that gets you an interview, and on getting hired as a graphic designer. Tinna also offered tips on team-building. Kelly Glass offered tips on time management (believe me, she should know).
Culture
We are a global company with offices in three vibrant, multicultural countries: the US, India and the Philippines. Three of us, each from a different country, dug into one aspect of our native culture through the food we associate with a particular festival. Kelly described how her family celebrates Thanksgiving; Mariel reached into her memories of Christmas; and I thought of a less-known Indian festival, Bihu, that I'd celebrated as a kid.
Community Service
We wrote about our commitment to community service: our involvement with Go Red for Women and the Street Source program, the design services we offered for military care packages and our employees' volunteer efforts. Which of our posts did you like best? Which did you like least? What would you like us to cover next? Here's to celebrating our 200th post!
