On February 5th, Al Merkel passed away suddenly. He will be sorely missed by his wife Marlowe, his children, Todd, Carolyn and Jennifer as well as the PIASC family and the whole industry. His record of service and leadership was extraordinary. He led Times-Mirror Press for several years during a period of major change. Prior to that, he held a number of top management positions in our industry. Merkel also served in the U.S. Force as a B-25 pilot and commander.
