KBA Reveals HP Press Collaboration, New RotaJET Inkjet Series, Tensor Sales Pact at GRAPH EXPO 14

In a flurry of announcements, KBA North America lit up GRAPH EXPO 14 in Chicago, held September 28-October 1. Strong sheetfed sales were reported, along with a new inkjet corrugated packaging press collaboration with HP. In addition, KBA North America introduced the RotaJET L-Series modular inkjet press and announced an agreement with Tensor International, whereby KBA will actively promote Tensor’s single-width printing solutions.

Tensor Lands Two-Tower Press Order from Signature Graphics

The two new Tensor T-400BE four-high towers are replacing two legacy towers on Signature Graphics’ impressive 15-tower, seven-folder press line. Signature’s press line produces commercial-quality inserts, catalogs, coupon books, and high-volume newspapers. “We had a tough decision to make on our choice of supplier with this upgrade project,” said Dan Dutton, executive vice president of Signature Graphics.

manroland Reaches Terms with Works Council

OFFENBACH, GERMANY—manroland AG and the works council at the press manufacturer have agreed on a "reconciliation of interests and a social plan" that will see a reduction of about 500 jobs combined at manroland plants in Augsburg, Offenbach and Plauen, Germany, by the end of 2012. As part of the agreement, another 300 employees will be transferred to its new business unit, manroland Industrial Services, which is slated to kick off Jan. 1.

manroland to Exhibit in 3D at Print World Show

The latest print technologies released by manroland will be presented via video format and include a special 3D ‘stereo flight’ view inside a printing press. Some of the items presented and discussed will be manroland’s new family addition to the 41˝ line of printing presses, the Roland 700 HiPrint HS press with 18,000 sph capability.

Baldwin Graphic Names Gustafson President

SHELTON, CT—Baldwin Graphic Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Baldwin Technology, hired Donald Gustafson as its president on Monday. In his role with the company, Gustafson, who will be based at the company's sales offices in Wood Dale, IL, will direct and manage the marketing, sales and service responsibilities for the Americas marketplace, and will have responsibility for the division's P&L performance.
