The Ben Franklin Honor Society of the Printing Industries of America inducted 12 new members at their annual black-tie dinner and awards ceremony on Friday, November 14 in Las Vegas, Nev., during the Printing Industries of America fall board meeting.

Investors, Executives Acquire Patented

DAYTON, OH—A group of senior executives at Patented Printing and some outside investors, including former Heidelberg North America President and CEO Niels Winther, has acquired the company from former CEO Dick Westfall and rebranded itself as Think Patented. The new name combines Patented Printing and Patented Mailing into a single entity that provides a full range of production, printing, mailing and fulfillment services. Winther is joined by fellow outside investors Jim Russell and Flemming Elleboe. Westfall and business partner Norm Eckstein are shareholders in the new ownership venture. Banta Corp., Mensasha, WI, announced the appointment of David Engelkemeyer to vice president of worldwide operations. He assumes senior executive leadership responsibilities for all of Banta's manufacturing operations, which include the corporation's print, supply-chain management and healthcare facilities. Carr was recently brought on board to head up the association's efforts to grow membership and to serve and assist existing members. Carr's sales experience spans more than 20 years and his experience in the graphic communications and printing industry goes back 16 years, ranging from prepress to production and post-production.
