DOC Rules Against Paper Importers

WASHINGTON, DC—The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) imposed preliminary countervailing duties (CVD) on imported coated paper from China and Indonesia to offset subsidies from those governments. Chinese coated paper companies were assessed duties ranging from 3.92 to 12.83 percent, while Indonesia importers were socked with a 17.48 percent duty.

Curley Chosen to Take Helm at NewPage

MIAMISBURG, OH—NewPage Corp. has chosen Tom Curley, a 30-year corporate veteran, to take over as president and CEO, effective immediately. Curley began his career with General Electric, and he has worked with organizations such as Caterpillar Inc. and Cooper Cameron. Prior to joining NewPage, Curley served as president of the Rolls-Royce Energy business.

Willett Steps Down from NewPage Post
January 22, 2010

MIAMISBURG, OH—Richard Willett, Jr., president and CEO of NewPage Corp., resigned from the company effective Jan. 18, but will remain as a consultant through March 31. Willett has decided to pursue opportunities in other industries. Mark Suwyn, former CEO and current executive chairman, will serve as CEO of NewPage until a replacement is named.
