The beauty of UV and other coatings is that they allow the customers to sell the sizzle instead of the steak which, from a marketing point of view, is much easier to accomplish. Greg Iannuccillo, vice president of sales and packaging for Packaging Graphics—a member of The MATLET Group family based in Pawtucket, RI—points out that much of the UV work his firm produces is geared toward the home and personal care spaces.

The 6th Annual Print UV conference, scheduled for March 3-6 at the Wynn Encore, Las Vegas, will feature three days of UV information and networking sessions. Around 200 of the world’s leading offset, flexo and digital UV printers and 20 top suppliers to the UV industry will meet to discuss UV market trends, exchange techniques, ideas and information, and uncover new processes and strategies to grow their businesses.

RadTech-The Association for UV and EB Technologies announces the formation of a new committee devoted to fast-emerging UV LED technology. The group’s first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in Redondo Beach, CA, co-located with uv.eb WEST.

Lewisburg Printing in Lewisburg, TN, has strengthened its UV printing capabilities with the addition of the Grafix Hi-Cure UV-curing system on a seven-color, 29x41" sheetfed press. The new press will replace two existing 28x40" machines and share the pressroom floor with 56" and 73" models.
