AT PRINT 13, Meredith-Webb Printing of Burlington, NC, signed a contract for the purchase of a newly-launched six-color, 64˝ KBA Rapida 164 10-unit press with double coaters, UV capabilities, and the new KBA ErgoTronic console. The new press will be delivered to Meredith-Webb’s facility in January 2014.

According to Jeffrey Pallis, president of DS Graphics in Lowell, MA, after just one month of adding a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 Peak Performance perfecting press, Ripon is already “ripping through the work,” printing flawless wall-to-wall color, including dense reds and blues on text weight stock at 18,000 sph in perfecting mode.

SG360°, a Segerdahl Co., purchased its third six-color Komori Lithrone G40 (GL640) offset press in the span of just one year. The announcement was made at a press conference held by Komori on Saturday, September 7, in conjunction with PRINT 13.

To keep pace with the significant growth it has experienced in recent years, Zoo Printing has added its eleventh 40˝ Komori Lithrone (LS40) press. Zoo reports it stays loyal to Komori presses because of the their fast speeds, are simple to operate, and hold consistent color—all critical attributes to meet its requirement of aggressive turnaround.

Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) has added a new specially-configured KBA Rapida press with full automation for its board packaging and plastic printing, at its facility in Indianapolis.

The addition of a new Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 102-6+LX UV press will allow Anderson/LA, a Consolidated Graphics company in Los Angeles, to meet the increasing demand by its retail and restaurant clients for a wider variety of in-store graphics, point-of-purchase applications and related printed materials, with increased flexibility, improved quality and shortened turn times.

Walter G. Anderson, an independent supplier of folding cartons with manufacturing facilities in Hamel, MN, and Newton, IA, installed a second 57˝ KBA Rapida 145 press at its Newton facility last month.

Printed Specialties in Carrollton, GA, has added a six-color, 40˝ Komori Lithrone press (LS640), to expand its packaging and folding carton printing capabilities. The press is equipped with an Air Motion UV curing system to better fulfill the demands of the company’s clients in the hardware/software, floral and personal care products industries.

Rex, A Cenveo Co., based in Jacksonville, FL, has added an Eagle Cold Foil system from Graphic Art Systems that will support its new 40˝ KBA Rapida 106 press.

Printco Graphics in Omaha, NE, has chosen a new five-color, 41˝ KBA Rapida 105 press with coater and UV, to expand into new markets, and to strengthen production, increase workflow and keep up with demand.
