Folder-Gluer Proves to Be Twice as Nice
DALLAS/FT. WORTH—Trade finisher Registermarks Letter Press Services recented added its second Bobst Fuego 110 A-2 CS folder-gluer in the past 18 months. The company runs order sizes from a few thousand to more than two million, which means some jobs can tie up a folder for two days.
“Adding the second Fuego has allowed us to complete many of these large orders in a single shift,” explains Mark Requena, president.
The new Fuego has been fitted with a multi-feeder inserter device for tipping in CDs, cards and booklets during the folding operation. “With this configuration, we can often do in one operation what would have previously taken at least two,” says Requena, noting that one of the first jobs through the multi-feeder was a booklet tipped in to 224,000 CD carriers for the Texas Tollway.

CLIFTON, NJ—E&M Bindery & Finishing, a complete bookbinding and print finishing services company, announced that it recently became the first U.S. company to install a Rilecart DP-4500 in-line, automatic punching and Wire-O book-binding system, which it purchased form American Binding Products of Miami. With 46 years of mechanical binding experience and seven other Wire-O machines on E&M’s floor, Russell Starling, general manager, says this new addition has most certainly raised the bar a notch or two.
As one of the fastest fully automatic punching and binding machines on the market, the Rilecart DP-4500 quickly transforms loose sheets of paper and covers into finished books. It divides collated book blocks as necessary, punches each stack, re-collates the stacks along with the covers, and automatically transfers them to the binding station, where the Wire-O elements fed from a spool are inserted and closed in perfect shape. The machine is capable of punching and binding up to 3,500 books an hour.
